If the iPod is under warranty (less than one-year from purchase) or AppleCare (extended warranty), you should take it to an Apple Store's Genius Bar, or other Apple-certified tech.

Mac OS XActually, one thing you may want to try is an alternate method of charging. If you happen to have a USB power adapter (like the one that comes with iPhone or iPad or other device), try charging your iPod from it (instead of computer's USB port). Is there any difference?
