Sorry, i couldn't find the Apple spec sheet for the MacBook, but the info will be at the second link.

The RAM specifications for a 2008 aluminum Macbook are:  204-pin PC3-8500 (1066 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM and will accept up to 8GB.

The RAM specifications for a 2012 MBP are:  204-pin PC3-12800 (1600 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM and will accept up to 16 GB.

The best sources of Mac compatible RAM are OWC and Crucial.

Both will FIT in both MBPs, but will NOT work in both MBPs.

Are you sure about the Late 2008 Aluminum 13" MacBook is capable to handle 8Gb RAM (2x4)?

When I check the Apple specifications, they recommend 4 Gb.  I might misunderstand if it is two times 4 or total 4?  Would you please verify, so I can also increase RAM in my old fellow.

I am referring to a Macbook model identifier 5.1, late 2008 aluminum.  It will accept 8 GB RAM.  If you have the slightest doubt, check the web sites of both OWC and Crucial, the two most reliable vendors of Mac compatible RAM.
