Q: Linking Projects to their Event in iMovie 10.1

I have an iMac running OS X 10.11.2 and using iMovie 10.1.

In my Events library I have the list of events and in the Projects window I can see all the projects.

But I cannot link a specific Project to its Event.

Before when I had an Event displayed, if I scrolled to the top of that event the related Projects were visible.

Now when I scroll to the top of an Event, the Projects that I have made which relate to that Project are not visible.

How can I define what Projects come from which Event?

Many thanks for any help.

Apple has changed 10.1 quite dramatically.  Projects no longer reside in events but now exist independently.  (In the library package they are now in separate folders and not subfolders in event folders).  After some playing around I have found the following-

A project can use clips for any event in the library (as before).  However, there is a new category - clips stored within a project.  If you drag and drop a clip into a project timline or import a clip to 'Project Media' the clip will not go into any event but will be linked to the project (and deleted if the project is deleted).

The new item 'PROJECT MEDIA' in the Libraries pane shows all the media used in the currently loaded project - from events, stored locally in the project and from other application libraries (iTunes etc.).

Thank you very much for your reply.

I am relieved I am not totally insane!

However trying to find which Projects are related to which Events  is now very difficult which is a pity - its called progress!

But again my thanks for your trouble in replying, I am most grateful.

I was surprised by this change, especially since it is a departure from the behaviour of FCP X on which iMovie 10 appears to be based.  (It may be a hint on where FCP X is going just like iMovie 10.0 was before FCP X 10.1 was released).

It is understandable because projects can use media from many different events so it is not particularly logical to associate them with a single event.  In fact this association was introduced in iMovie 10- in previous iMovie versions projects and events were also separate.  The way to link them now is by choosing appropriate names for projects and events.
