Is there any magic that is possible in editing to get the background cloth alone to black. Thanks

User uploaded file

Videos were shot without Green-Chroma-Cloth but with a black cloth. It was an interview. Now the black background is seen grey, since it was shot in light. Black is seen more black only in low light. Also colour and brightness of the cloth is changing as we change the parameters of the colour board. Is there any magic-editing by which I can change the colour of the background cloth alone to look fully black without chroma-cloth concept.

Left side of the image is the black cloth, but seen as grey.

Expected black, which is to the right side of the image.

Thank you

forget my first reply... not enough coffee, to my excuse 😉

Just tried something… as you probably know, you can mask the color correction by color. And, what my short test shows: grey is a color! (didn't know that…) look:

a video with a grey background.

Apply Color Correction, in drop down choose Add Color Mask and click the eyedropper into the grey...

now any grey is selected, I scale the overall exposure down - tadahh! -black BG!

... ok, my subject has grey eyes too (does he??), so, they were selected and are now black too LOL!!

And the mask creates a 'line' around my subject, probably you have to adjust some settings....

So, it can work, it can not ... but worth a try. 😉
