I understand that sometimes when you charge your iPhone over night, it feels warm to the touch in the morning and doesn’t appear to have charged. I know situations like this can cause concern, but we are here to help!
Typically, it is normal for your iPhone to get warm while charging as the following article suggests.
When using the device or charging the battery, it is normal for it to get warm. The exterior of the device functions as a cooling surface that transfers heat from inside the device to the cooler air outside.

If your battery is not charging, I would suggest reading over and working through the suggested troubleshooting steps in the next article.
