Apple Music Stole My Music Library

Hi everyone,

Despite reading about many other negative experiences, as an avid Apple lover for many years, I wanted to give Apple Music a try. Short answer, don't.

After I ended the service, I am now locked out of most of my music. This is a library I have had for over 20 yeaars and through the years and moving between four countries, CDs have been given away, got destroyed, played with by children - you get the point. I don't have that many CDs where I live now. In fact, most is probably in storage in another country 😟

Even if I could get most of the music together, it will take a long time to delete and re-install as you all know.

So, my question is, have anyone else had this problem recently with the new operating system on their iPhones or Macs? And if you have a solution, I would be really grateful.

My advice for now is stay well away from Apple Music as it steals your music if you un-subscribe from their music service.

Thanks everyone

iPhone 6, iOS 9.2, null

Quick answer - no - Apple Music has not "stolen" my music library. Though I am still continuing the service. But at various times I have turned the service OFF on various computers and iOS devices and never had an issue seeing my library after turning it back on. Have I had issues with metadata being screwed up - yep - mainly either the artwork or genre listings.

One simple question: did you backup your music library (or at least the actual music files) BEFORE turning on Apple Music and more importantly iCloud Music Library? Especially after "reading about many other negative experiences"? I would think that that would be the first thing you would do before trying the new service. Then you could just wipe out the library that got screwed up by Apple Music and restore it from the backup.

Also, are the "stolen" music files on the computer that you initially set up Apple Music with? Because - in general - if you did not delete your own copies of the music files and replace them with the ones downloaded from Apple Music, they should still be there.
