Most are included in the operating system and don't involve a download. The lower part of the following link has system requirements for various iCloud functionality. If you are trying to use iCloud Drive note that it requires OS X Yosemite or later.

Dec 18, 2015 11:45 AM in response to sjf21by Eric Root,The basic part of iCloud is going to System Preferences/iCloud and sign in with your Apple ID. Once signed in, you can select what you want to sync. Depending on the application, you may need to set up iCloud in the application's preferences.
