Canon irc 2880i driver issue with El Capitan

Hi,

I have a MacBook Pro Retina with IOSX El Capitan 10.11.2 and a Canon Printer irc 2880i.

I tried to download the drivers from http://it.software.canon-europe.com/products/0010365.asp but many of them are too old to be installed on my Mac and the only one that can be installed has this problem: The Mac recognises the printer and it also knows about the toner levels, everything seems fine but when you print something the printer does not print anything. On the Printer display it says "NG" instead of "OK" with an error code #853. The Mac does not detect any error.

PLEASE, HOW CAN I SOLVE THIS PROBLEM?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.2), null

iOSX doesn't exist.

It is called Mac OS X for Macs.

iOS is for iPod Touch, iPhone, and iPad.

Regardless, it is clear what you are trying to do. You may find some open source drivers work better. My FAQ* links to open source drivers:

Note, if your Mac is older in release date than 10.11, you may be able to keep an older operating system on a separate partition, and save your print jobs to PDF to print from the older operating system that supports your printer. Alternatively you could sell your printer and get one that does support 10.11.

There are a number of causes for the #853 error. The most common on OS X is due to you using a Postscript driver to a non-Postscript device. For the iR C2880i, Postscript is an option so it sounds like yours doesn't have this kit. Therefore you need to delete this printer and download and install this Canon UFR2 v10.8.1 driver and create a new printer using the iR C 2880i UFR2 driver.

PAHU, Sorry for hijacking this thread, but I have a friend with an HP 6520 which clearly does not have Postscript, and Photoshop scanned JPEGs and Bitmaps won't print to it. The error is that it doesn't have components clearly found only on Postscript files. My situation is with Windows 7 and Photoshop 3. Are you aware of any special drivers that would enable Photoshop postscript files to print to a non-Postscript printer? Email at abrody AT macmaps.com.

Thanks.
