To the MAC community:
I'm giving my 27inch iMAC (2010) to my 10 year old son. He is starting to use computers a lot for school and I thought this would get him through high school. Obviously, being an adult I have things on there I don't want him to find. I am currently resetting the IMAC to its factory settings. He will then use his own apple ID to start it up. My

I did read and it said to erase the HD and reset it to factory settings. I just wanted to make sure that there was not a case somewhere when this did not work as intended.
I don't understand. What part of erase and reinstall does not work as intended? Please explain further.
Guess I just wanted verification, that yes, the thing is definitely wiped clean and there is no getting it back.
I think that is the objective of Apple's post.
I also reset the to factory settings before reading to de authorize iTunes and iCloud accounts. Will this be a huge problem?

Deauthorize your computer using iTunes - Apple Support
When you erased the drive, you have effectively signed out of iCloud. If you have another computer accessing iCloud, you will still have access to your data.
