Startup items lost and not starting

Hi!

I was using El Capitan 10.11.1 and everything was ok. Before upgrading to 10.11.2 I had 4 apps as startup items in my account:

- Dropbox

- Clean my mac 3

- Moom

- Macs fan control

After upgrading to 10.11.2, only Dropbox is always starting. The behavior of the rest is disconcerting me. Let me try to explain it.

I open the apps that were lost as startup items. I set them to start when mac starts under the settings of the apps. When I restart Mac OS X the app restarts, but the option of starting when Mac OS X starts is lost (If I go to settings the checkbox is unchecked, if I look on the startup items the app is not listed). Of course, if I don't set it again, the apps doesn't starts on the next reboot. So, this means that after adding an app as startup item only starts on the next reboot, then is lost.

The same happens if I add the apps manually as startup items instead of doing it through the apps settings.

Thanks in advance for your answer.

There may be other issues, but you should start by getting rid of "CleanMyMac."

"CleanMyMac" is a scam and a common cause of instability and poor performance. Depending on what version you have, the developer's instructions may not completely remove it. Please follow those instructions, then do as below.

Please back up all data before proceeding.

Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.macpaw.CleanMyMac2.Agent.plist

Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select

Services Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)

from the contextual menu.* A folder may open with an item selected. If it does, move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.

Repeat with this line:

/Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/com.macpaw.CleanMyMac2.Agent

Restart the computer and empty the Trash.

You may also have to remove one or more of these items in the same way:

~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.macpaw.CleanMyMac.helperTool.plist

~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.macpaw.CleanMyMac.volumeWatcher.plist

~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.macpaw.CleanMyMac3.Scheduler.plist

Never again install "CleanMyMac" or anything like it.

*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select

Go Go to Folder...

from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You may not see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

It's hard to admit... but yes... the problem seamed related with this software.

Maybe not directly related with Clean My Mac 3, but looking at the installation directories I also found Clean My Disc 2. I installed this software because "Clean My Mac 3" suggested it (and at the same time I though it was a good tool to avoid populating USB sticks from windows friends with hidden mac files). This software was not listed as startup item but... it was starting!!

I uninstalled Clean My Disk 2 first, and this fixed the problem. But... of course, after seeing this I continued and uninstalled Clean My Mac 3.

Thanks for your help.
