Q: Connectivity issues with internet

Hi Guys,

My current setup is the R7000 router, DM111Pv2 modem and AC1200 EX6150 WIFI extender.

- Modem and router have firmware updated in the last few days.

- smart connect actvitated yesterday

- channel set to AUTO for 2.4ghz

- channel set to 36 for 5ghz

My issue is connectivity. In the last month or so I have had issues with ios devices, TV, XBOX one, Mac's and my PC not being able to connect through the R7000.

An example of this is from today.

- iphone6 was disconnected from WIFI overnight, and would not connect. (reset phone, router and modem)

- XBOX one would not connect to WIFI, and error message came up stating "IP address could not be obtained" (regular occurance, sometimes works)

- Internet worked fine when hard wired to PC, but not over WIFI

- Internet DID work over WIFI to Macbook, but only on the 2.4ghz extender network. Macbook internet would not work over regular network. (if i changed from extender to regular and back again, externder WIFI would then not work)

- PC and iphone then started to work over WIFI to regular network

- reset macbook and it would then work over regular network, but not extended.

As you can see it is very frustrating, as this did not happen when I first bought the router. Does anyone have any solutions to help me fix these issues?

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 8.1

You may have to go into your router an assign specific IP addresses to you various devises. In most routers this can be done. Usually the IP address will change if not set. Usually the first devise in the chain becomes the server, especially if it is connected by ethernet. That is the mac address that gets cloned. To do this you connect one devise at a time. starting with the one you clone the mac address to.
