Q: Airdrop and Airplay Not working

Airdrop and airplay has stopped working after elcapitan 10.11.2 update. It was working with 10.11.1. There is no airplay icon anymore when connected same network and airdrop doesn't show my ipad and iphone anymore. Airplay still works with both iphone and ipad with 9.2 update. 15 inch 2014 model macbook pro. Thanks for the help.

    Try these tips and see what happens.https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203106 Could airplay show in menu be turned off in system preferences.

    Tried few things. Nothing is working. My sister came by to upgrade her 2014 13 inch rmbp from yosemite directly to 10.11.2. Now her macbook pro just lost airdrop and airplay wont work like mine. Any tips? Should i reset pram and smc? and also her yosemite was connecting with apple tv now after upgrade to e;lcapitan 10.11.2 same as mine. I dont want to downgrade to 10.11.1 cuz it has performance problem with my macbook pro.

    First. Performance problems usually don't go away by upgrading unless it's a system problem. You could try the SMC and Pram reset. You could also try thru recovery to run a check/repair of the drive. Permissions would be good also, but in El Capitan that option is not there in disk utilities. It has to be done from command line in terminal.  http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/1333DDR38S08/ You may have to use recovery and reinstall El Capitan. This should not delete any of your personal data. But it is always good to have a backup of your drive. The best way to reinstall is to use ethernet instead of WIFI as it is more stable. Since this is apart of the operating system package, I have no other suggestions. Do you still have active apple care? If you do, you can make use of the apple genius bar. The warranty comes with 90 days free tech support, by calling the apple tech support line , and one year of support and repair thru the genius bar.

    So i finally did a clean install of El capitan with the original 10.11.0 version as i had saved the setup file in external hd. The airplay and airdrop works again. Then again i update to 10.11.2 and boom its not working again. So i am done with this problem. Hope it will be fixed by next update but i only see very few other forum posts with this issue. Also a lot of plp have performance problems with 10.11.1 update. El Capitan running slowly? with over 100,000 views.

    Apparently your going to have to run without the update.Or until apple offers an update that fixes this.

    i had a feeling this was going to be the case. I am having the same issue with you - of course right before I was trying to have a party at my house.
