iCloud seetings won't let me connect my photo library within Photos

Make sure Photos is checked in System Preferences > iCloud.

Hi Carolyn, thanks for the suggestion. When I try to do that--select Photos within the settings--I get an error that says "iCloud Photo Library is only available to Mac OS Standard and Mac OS Extended formatted volumes" But my HD is a format of Mac OS Extended
