Macbook Won't play videos

I have continuously tried to play several videos on my Macbook including Youtube and Netflix, and they will not play. The video will fully load, the picture will load, but they will not play. I have updated my flash player to the most current version. My internet works just fine as videos will play on my iPhone. Anyone else have this problem? If so, how did you fix it?
