Canon HV10E and Firewire control

Capture video from my Canon HV10e does not allow to control the camera. I must manual start my camcorder. When I connect my Sony PC1 camcorder control buttons to start, rewind etc show up. Is there something wrong with my (HD) project settings?

MBP C2D, Mac OS X (10.4.8)

That's the way the application works. When using HDV material you have to drive the camera or deck by hand. There is no FW control.
