Q: Got Virus Notification in safari?

So I was just going through safari looking at some gaming stuff and I got a notification "Your iPod touch has been infected with a Virus. Do not Exit tab" I have my email and want to know if I can use it still and if it was fake IPod 5th gen

Any such popup message will be a scam. Do not respond.

It's a scam, quit Safari or Force Quit (Command-Option-esc) and forget it.

There are no IOS viruses, this is an attempt to scam you, follow the directions given in the link that MacJack posted

It never told me to call a number or anything...it just said "Your iPod touch has been infected with a virus...Do not Close out this tab" and also...I'm wondering that should I use my email for money reasons after this?...

If you did not do anything but close Safari/the tab then there is no concern with using your email for anything.
