Q: Synced Bookmarks Stuck from old iPad

I signed into my iCloud account with a new (to me) iPad and wasn't able to restore an iCloud backup on it because it needed to be updated first.  So I accepted all of the defaults for the initial setup on the device, logged into my iCloud, etc.  Once it came up, I immediately performed a software update on it so I could then ultimately restore a backup of my old iPad.  While it was downloading iOS 9.2, I was browsing Safari.

The search history from Safari during this time synced with iCloud and populated on my iPhone.

After the update, I performed a fresh "reset" of the now updated iPad, went through the initial setup process, and restored from my old iPad iCloud backup.

All is well except on my iPhone, I have history "stuck" from the Safari search from this "bogus" iPad (because I wiped and had it built from the iCloud backup immediately upon it finishing the update).

How do I get rid of this history from this nonexistent iPad build that I can't go and delete the history, turn iCloud sync off for safari history, etc. on?

I have tried shutting that off on the iPhone, clearing all content and settings, rebooting the phone, etc.  Nothing seems to work because as soon as I turn Safari sync back on, I get it again.  This ONLY happens on this device too (my iPhone).  I even tried to find some sort of setting in iCloud.com and wasn't able to find anything in there either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

iPhone 6, iOS 9.2
