Asphalt 8 Airborne will not update

Asphalt 8 Airborne on my new Apple TV will not allow me to get past the update reminder screen. It prompts me to update, then becomes unresponsive. None of the buttons on the remote work, although I can hear the music playing in the background. I cannot navigate back to the main menu at all. I have tried restarting (hard boot) the Apple TV and deleting and reinstalling the game. Nothing so far has worked. All of the other apps work fine.

Has anyone else had this problem?
