Q: Slideshows are not displaying fully in the Apple iDVD application. The iDVD display is clipping off the top of the slideshow window.

I am using the Apple iDVD application, which I know is not supported any more. But I don't know of any other way to produce a DVD that has a menu for selecting and playing five slideshows on a DVD played on TV.

I produced the slideshows using the latest version of Photos and iMovie. They look great when launched from Finder. But when they are played in iDVD, the display is not showing the top band of the slideshow. The first photo in the slideshow has its top showing above the slideshow window, so that the top band of the first photo shows where the clipped part of the slideshow should be.

If iDVD cannot be fixed, is there another way to produce a DVD with menu controls and background music like this?

Are these slideshows from still images created in iDVD?  If so then go to iDVD's Slideshow preference pane and check this checkbox:

    iDVD001.jpg

That will scale the slideshow images to fit the safe area and not be cropped at the top and bottom:

This is what it looks like without that checkbox checked.  The TV save area is bounded by the red border.

And this is with the checkbox checked:

You will get shadowboxing (black borders on the right and left on the TV screen).

If your video/movie files are getting cut off you can create a slideshow in iDVD and add the video files to it.  It will also scale the video to the TV safe area.

To have the TV safe area identified use the View ➙ Show TV Safe Area menu option:
