Q: is there any way to exchange/trade in an iphone that has been lost and get a new iphone?

is there any way to trade in an icloud locked iPhone 6 plus for a new or refurbished one?

I bought it from craigslist. I asked if the icloud lock was off and seller said yes. well, its icloud locked and I cant get in touch with the seller or the person who's number is on it.

how can we, as innocent people, buying used iphones with the icloud lock be compensated for our financial losses?

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 9.1

    Do you honestly thinks that's going to happen?


    You should have been diligent in your purchase and verified Activation Lock was disabled, and not simply take a stranger's word for it.

    Private party sales between individuals are just that - a purely private matter between seller and buyer. There are very few if any consumer laws that apply to private party sales of personal property. If you feel you were a victim of a crime or illegal sales, then talk to the police. Otherwise, you're always on your own when it comes to private transactions.  If they work out in your favor, great but if not, that's wholly on you.
