Is my video card shot?

I know this picture may look awesome but this supposed to be a screen shot from a children's cartoon. I'm confused as to what is going on with my computer I bought it brand new this past summer (2015) and have had nothing but trouble with it since. I feel it may be a logic board or RAM issue and I do not have the time to abandon the computer as I need it daily for school and work. I run a second screen ACER G245H and have a hard drive backing it up quite regularly. I do a LOT of video and animation work on my computer both of which seem to give me the most grief, while others with the same computer don't seem to have this problem.

That's the plan when I get back to school -we have a loaner program for when our computers are down- but I'm interested as to what may have caused this. Is it a power issue in my house(surging/brown outs)? Is it the fact that I use an external monitor that is not an Apple product? Is it emulators? Is it Autodesk? Which is a BIG one, because it seems to give me the most grief. I'm looking for help with future trouble shooting cause I figure the problem won't go away after they repair it.

The genius bar technicians should be able to repair the MBP and they may be able to give you with some speculative reasons as to what may be the cause of the problem. One of your peripherals may be faulty or as you have mentioned, the AC may be a factor. Not being present in your user environment prevents any one from being able to give you specific answers. The task to define the source of the problem(s) is largely going to be yours.

Ciao.
