how to use gift card to buy ibook?

Searching I see a couple others have asked this question, but there was no clear answer.

I buy ibooks. They charge to a credit card. I received 3, $25 gift cards as part of the Apple managed Barclays financing of an iMac.

I would like to be able to use these cards to add to my ibook collection, which I read on ios.

I don't know how to put the gift card between the iBookstore and my credit card. Seems like a natural thing to want to do.

Thanks,

Donald

Ok, I see how this works:

You can't buy books directly with an Apple Gift Card.

You have to convert them to an iTunes Gift Card. (Boy, whose idea was that?)

Once you have an iTunes Gift Card you can go to the iBookstore, to redeem (QUICK LINKS) off to the right.

That will apply the credit to your apple ID.

I think after that your purchases will deduct from the credit before adding new charges to your card.

Time will tell.

The following has information on how to add iTunes Gift Cards to your account so that you can use it to buy books etc online: Redeem iTunes Gift Cards and codes - Apple Support

If the cards are Apple Store gift cards rather than iTunes Gift Cards (Barclays offers both), the February 13, 2015 reply from timskilu in the following discussion may help: Use Apple Store Gift Card to Buy iTunes Gift Card?
