Q: How can I get the iPad to recognize the printer?

i have an iPad Air 2 running iOS 9.1. Both iPad and printer are on the wifi network. iPad doesn't recognize the printer, but my iMac does.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.3)

I think so -- my iMac recognizes it. How would I find out? It's an HP Photosmart D7460.

If it's AirPrint compatible, it would probably be noted on the packaging or in the documentation for the printer somewhere.

It is not on Apple's list of AirPrint compatible printers (though that list may not be 100% up to date).

Not all Wi-Fi capable printers support AirPrint.
