New Logic board? MC373LL/A

Hi Guys,

I've been looking for an answer for a while now but just seem to go round in circles any help would be great.

I have a MC373LL/A Macbook Pro Core i7 2.66 15" MID-2010

I have developed a fault with the graphics card I believe this was quite common on this model, the laptop will just black screen and then reboot, I have installed gfxCardStatus which does help a little but its not a solution.

I love the macbook and I have upgraded the ram and got a 1TB SSD now, and can't afford to buy another one just yet.

My question is, can I upgrade the Logic board / motherboard or something to by pass this issue, I would rather upgrade to a better spec than replace with the same, but if thats all I can do where do I go to get it done?

Many thanks in Advance

MacBook Pro (15-inch Mid 2010), OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

Turning off graphic switching is also known to help. I do not think changing the logic board to a newer one will help. Even if it would interchange. Which I doubt. And the newer ones ,the 2011 and 2012 had graphic issues too. If you are willing and up to changing a logic board it would be better to see if you can find one. Ether used as on Ebay or new. Apple as far as I know would not sell you one even if they still had them available. Unless they installed it. I found two on Ebay, both used. one at $299.00 the other at $399.0. Saw a place that claimed to repair them for $189.00 plus shipping, but cannot recommend as you would need to research the company.

I am curious. Since turning off Automatic graphics switching in System Preferences>Energy Saver results in selecting the discrete GPU to be engaged all the time (or disengaging the discrete GPU) and since it is the problematic one, how will that help?
