iPhone 6 plus silent switch malfunction after iOS 9.2

Hello,

After I've upgraded my iPhone 6 Plus to iOS 9.2, the silent switch began to present a malfunction.

When it is in normal position, it's alright.

When I switch to silent position, the phone starts to alternate between sound and silent mode, randomly. When it is in silent mode and you put in your pocket, you feel it vibrate randomly, and you think it's a message or other notification, but it is the phone vibrating without a motive.

Can someone give some advice? Is it a software glitch due to iOS 9.2 or is it a hardware glitch?

Thanks in advance,

Muriel

The mute switch is a hardware piece, so problems with it would be a hardware error. Do you have a case on the phone that may interfere with the switch? You can go through the user troubleshooting steps if you like, or you can make an appointment at the Genius Bar of the nearest Apple Store or Authorized Apple Service provider to have the device looked at.

I have seen several mute switches starting to go bad on Iphone 6. if it's still under warranty , Apple will swap your phone if it's defective.

If Apple determines that the failure is not due to user damage. Here on the forum, since we do not represent Apple nor are we Apple employees to say that Apple will inspect the device and make a determination. You do not want someone going to Apple and stating that someone on the forum said they can get their device replaced. No one here on the forum can make that determination.

Hello,

My iPhone isn't under warranty anymore. I will take it to an apple authorized reseller to watch upon the silent switch.

I made a few tests, using a case or not. Sometimes the silent switch works OK, sometimes when you switch to silent it takes a lot of time do indicate the silent mode is on.

All evidences show that the problem is hardware (switch lifecycle ending?), but I have realized it after upgrade to iOS 9.2. Anyone else have realized this kind of malfunction after upgrade to iOS 9.2?

Best Regards, Muriel

Hello,

I've taken my iPhone 6 plus to a apple authorized reseller (I'm in Brazil), and their policy it is not to fix the vibrate/silent switch, but to change the device for a new one, since you pay approximately half the value of a new one.

As the newest generation is iPhone 6s plus, I think this alternative does not compensate in terms of cost/benefits.

It's a pity that Apple does not fix the problem or offers a better value to acquisition of a new one, since in my country the iPhone has a absurd cost due to the dollar is in skyrocket.
