You will every article suggests doing an erase, the reason for doing so is so the new owner will not be inheriting problems (they may have other hardware issues) and can start with a clean slate.

Dec 21, 2015 4:38 PM in response to rkaufmann87by ferg52,Thanks. I definitely should have done that. I guess I can do a backup and do a clean install and restore my Mac, but I imagine that the troublesome files will still be in there somewhere.
