Q: Why does iPad Crash?

Every iPad I have ever owned has had a problem with frequent crashing.  Going all the way back to first generation.   I just got home from the Apple Store where I was looking at pro.   My iPad Retina has been crashing constantly.  Using google Chrome or Safari, it doesn't matter.  On Facebook or any number of other sites, same problem.  The screen will start scrolling slow, will freeze, get jerky and than bam....  Gone.  When I reopen, there will be a box at the bottom of the page asking if I want to restore.   I have double clicked on the button at the bottom, closed all open apps....   I have rebooted the iPad completely, turning it off then restarting at the apple logo.   Nothing  helps.   Before I plunk down a grand on another iPad, I want to know why, after so many years and over 9 updates to the OS and many generations of iPads, does this happen?  What Causes it? What assurances are there that it won't continue to be a problem?

iPad (4th gen) Wi-Fi, iOS 8.4.1

Before I recommend the backup to iTunes and restore as new procedure I have some additonal questions for you.

    What storage model is this.

How much free datat space is left?

How many browser tabs to you regularly leave active when surfing the web on a iOS web browser.

How many background apps do you consistently leave ruuning?

You have an older iPad like me.

Your iPad may crash less, also if you TURN OFF all of the fancy AND REALLY UNECCESSARY motion graphics, by turning on Reduced Motion in the Settings App under Accessibility.

    Turn of Background App Refresh.

If your iPad has been activated for iCloud, in the Settings App under iCloud, to the right, under iCloud Drive, tap iCloud Drive and make sure Safari is turned off for saving Safari data to iCloud Drive.

Also, under iCloud in the Settings App, in iCloud Drive, disable the saving feature for any other apps that you DO NOT want data being saved automatically to iCloud Drive.

In the Settings App under the General tab, to the right under Spotlight sesrch, try disabling the search under apps that really do not need a search, like some games, remotes, apps that really do not need to be searched, etc., to reduce the list for Spotlight to search.
