Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that your Cinema Display is not working with your MacBook Pro. Since it works with your Mac Pro, we need to troubleshoot your MacBook Pro. I have a couple articles that go through so various troubleshooting steps that may help resolve this issue. Let's start with a reset of the SMC and NVRAM. Be sure to test the display after each troubleshooting step.

How to Reset NVRAM on your Mac
If the display still isn't working, let's go through the troubleshooting steps specific for the Cinema Display.

- Make sure the computer is turned on.
- Make sure the power cord is plugged in properly.
- Make sure the display cables are connected to your computer properly.
- Make sure the DVI or Mini DisplayPort display cable is connected securely.
- Make sure your computer is not in sleep mode.
- Make sure the brightness is set properly. The brightness control is under the right front edge of the display.
- Check for and install all available software updates. Software updates may provide solutions to many common issues.
If the display power cord is plugged into a grounded wall outlet or power strip, find out if power to the outlet has been interrupted. You can test the outlet by plugging in something that you know works, like a desk lamp or radio.

If the issues persist, take a look at the troubleshooting article below. Be sure to start with the quoted section that I have attached.
You can resolve many display issues by updating the software on your Apple devices, cables, and adapters. If you can see an image on your screen, check for software updates using the Mac App Store:
- Connect your external display and any Apple video cables or adapters that you use with it.
- From the Apple menu, choose App Store.
- Click the Updates button in the App Store window.
- Install any OS X or firmware updates that are listed.
If you're using a display, hub, extender, or adapter not made by Apple, check with the manufacturer for any updates that might be available.
