Photo opened and edited in Photoshop won't show the edited version in Photos.

I'm not sure if my title sufficiently explained, but my photos in the Photos app which I import into Photoshop for edit won't show in the Photos app after edit.

Let me explain in detail:

1. I open a photo in Photoshop from the Photo app.

2. I edit, and save the photo or choose the "Save as" option and overwrite in the same folder as the same file name.

(If I choose the save as option, the folder is located in a really deep subfolder. I guess that's how syncing works for Apple)

3. When I check the photo in the photo app, the photos I edited aren't the edited version, instead just the original version of the photos.

WHY???????

I really don't want to export the photos in the photos app somewhere, edit them AND import back into the photos app for viewing in iPhone, just to photoshop something. This is really inefficient. Please tell me if this is normal and if there is any method. If this is a normal thing, I want Apple to fix this.

You NEVER make changes to the Photos library including saving edited photos into it - that does not work and damages your Photos library - until Adobe provided an extension to Photos you must save outside of Photos and them import using the Photos Import command

So it does not work this way..

I really hope Adobe either blocks saving back into the photos app for the sake of other people, or allows us to be able to save this way.

Not sure whom to blame, but this is really sad. It makes me lean towards Dropbox for photo backups.

Your thread has nothing to do with backups

and if you are thinking of backing up your Photos (or iPhoto) to DropBox you need to reconsider - so far I am not aware of anyone successfully using DropBox for a Photos or iPhoto library - both must be on a volume formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) which DropBox does not use

?? Ok, forget about the backup. What do you mean Dropbox doesn't use Mac journaled format? I install Dropbox and export from photos to Dropbox perfectly fine?

Yes it works for photos but not to backup the Photos Library or the iPhoto library

In iPhoto you could chose to edit in another program and it would save the edited file in the iphoto library. I don't think it saved the original, so I usually duplicate the file first. Apparently they have done away with that option. I personally will be using iPhoto 9.6.1 for the time being. I might reconsider if some good extensions become available for Photos.
