Live Photos showing up as 3 second video files.
All my Live Photos are showing up as 3 second video files after I synced my iPhone with my computer. IOS and Mac OS all current. Can't figure out what happened. Any ideas?

Same problem. At least in my case the actual 12mpx photos can be found in the "moments", together with the 3 seconds videos. In other view types, like "all photos", only the 3 seconds videos appear. I am using latest version of iOS and Photos in Mac OSX. Quite annoying.
I connected it to my computer to add new music and then the photos app opened and asked if I wanted to import photos. So I guess I would say importing to photos. But then I did an iTunes sync after so... I also use iCloud Photo Library. This was the first time in a while that I actually plugged my phone into my computer. I'm wondering if it because my iPad isn't running iOS 9.2. I'm updating that right now. I also synced my iPad the same way as well.
I am having the same problem. I did not sync my phone via cable, however. All of the Live Photos on my camera roll are now 3 second videos. The Live Photos that are shared on my photo stream are still Live Photos though. This is very frustrating and concerning of the Live Photos are lost.
Indeed that's what they are, but they are not supposed to appear as separate distinct items in Photos. And moreover in some cases (in some view options in Photos) the video is there but the picture is not. That is what we are complaining about.
Hoe are you syncing?

I synced up with a lightning cable like I always have.
Importing to Photos or using iTunes Sync? Remember we can not see you so need details

Not at all the point.
This is very helpful. I'm glad they're not lost. If they are some where, I'm fine with it.
I had the same problem. After months, today it got solved! See this thread.
Me too. It’s making me nuts. They all show up in a video album that I didn’t create
I’m not fine with it because you have to view it like a video which defeats the person of watching them in sequence
The problem is that I cannot even edit these live photos, why am I shooting live photos if I can't edit them...
