Xbox one / headset interference switch airport settings

I have an Xbox one and a turtle Beach headset. Having problems with the headset the support at turtle Beach recommended that I change my settings with my airport extreme. They stated this (copy and paste) ...

If you have an internet router that is set to 802.11N or faster transmit/receive, it may be that your controller is dropping audio connection due to interference. If you change your router to 802.11G protocol, do the dropouts disappear?

how do I do this?

This is not a real solution. IMHO it will not work.. but it takes a few seconds to try.

The instructions apply to ONLY pre AC models.. ie NOT Gen6.. this is only for Gen1-Gen5

In the airport utility click your airport.. click edit.. click wireless.. click wireless options.

Go to Radio Mode and select what I have shown above.

I would prefer to see you use all SMB name conventions.. ie short, no spaces and pure alphanumerics.

So all names <10 characters. Passwords have same rules but can be 8-20 characters.

I Must have a newer model as in wireless options I do not have radio mode.

You also have the 802.11ac version of the AirPort Extreme that LaPastenague mentioned.

Unfortunately, there is no Radio Mode adjustment for that model, so you are locked into the setting that Apple thinks you should have.

Even if you could do what the Turtle folks suggest.......you would be going back a decade as far as wireless speed and performance. Would not make much sense to limit the AirPort to 5% of its wireless capability.

Is Xbox using bluetooth or some special wireless,

Try moving the channels.. bluetooth can be a problem alongside wifi.. even on gen6 AE you can still manually set channels.. same place I showed above.. test the high channels.. 11, 8, 6.
