There is a fair chance with an old first-edition MacBook 13-inch model, its
hard disk drive may have failed. Hard to say. I have one & it's OK, and it
had the hard drive, replaced before I got it. A 2006 early model.
To try to get the install DVD out, is an idea, since it should be the key. But
why it won't, may indicate other kinds of problems. The MacBook1.1 is the
first edition of the first Intel-based Apple portable that replaced older PPCs.
With a computer that does not normally work, the methods suggested leave
a lot to be desired; Combo/Superdrive a few ways such site, mentions:
Was the install disc that's stuck in the MB1.1 a grey-label DVD or a retail branded X
install DVD for Leopard 10.5? The computer shipped with Tiger version grey label.
Sorry to say, you may have a project that could occupy your time into the new year.
