Q: El Capitan 10.11.2

I Am trying to update from 10.11.1 to 10.11.2 but my MacBook will not restart in order  to start the update. I have powered it down by using the power button, but upon restart it says that the computer has to restart to install the update. Has anyone run into this issue and if so what is the solution to getting this to work? Thanks

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)

    Hello diver1,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

I understand that when your Mac is trying to restart on its own, that it is getting hung up, and you have to force it to shut down on its own.  This could indicate that there's some process or application that is preventing your Mac from restarting properly.  I suggest that you start your computer in safe mode, and then try to install the Mac OS X update.

    Starting up in safe mode

Follow these steps to start up into safe mode.

    1. Start or restart your Mac.
    2. Immediately after you hear the startup sound, press and hold the Shift key.
    3. Release the Shift key when you see the Apple logo appear on the screen.

After the Apple logo appears, it might take longer than usual to reach the login screen or your desktop. This is because your Mac performs a directory check of your startup disk as part of safe mode.

To leave safe mode, restart your computer without pressing any keys during startup.

If you don't hear a startup chime after pressing the power key, see what to do if your Mac won't turn on.

Try safe mode if your Mac doesn‘t finish starting up

    Cheers.
