Is it safe to use a 85W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter for a 13-inch Retina display Macbook Pro? I purchased the 13-inch Retina display Macbook Pro in August of this year.

    It is safe.

     

    MacBook Pro 15 inch retina uses 85W MagSafe2 power adapter with MagSafe-2 style connector.

    MacBook Pro 13 inch retina uses 60W  MagSafe2 power adapter with MagSafe-2 style connector.

     

    “You should use the appropriate wattage power adapter for your Apple notebook. You can use a compatible higher wattage adapter without issue, but it won't make your computer charge faster or operate differently. Lower wattage adapters will not provide enough power.”
