iPhone 6 flashlight doesn't stay on

My iPhone 6 flashlight recently started turning off while using it. I've searched for other people having a similar issue, but all I can find is a flashlight that won't work at all and the icon is greyed out.

Mine will turn on and stay on for anywhere from 1 to 30 seconds, then turn back off. The icon will still be lit up like the flashlight is on, and when I tap it again the icon looks like it's turned off. If I tap the icon again, the flashlight will turn back on momentarily and then shut off again. The more times I turn it on and off the less time it lasts.

I recently noticed an issue with my camera flash too. When taking a picture in the dark the camera will flash, but there is too much of a delay between the flash of the camera and actually taking a picture and my pictures are all dark. No flash at all is captured.

I'm pretty sure this is a software issue. I've updated my software to the most recent version and done a hard reset of my phone (home+power). It's been happening for several months and it's super annoying. Anyone have a fix for this?

Thanks

iPhone 6, iOS 9.2

I went into my camera app to attempt to force my flash on but i noticed that a yellow triangle was in its place that when tapped on said "the iphone must cool down before flash can be enabled" and my phone earlier that day had also shown the message it displays when it is overheating; so perhaps your phone just needs to cool off, i put it in my freezer (while still in a lifeproof case) then once taken out i removed it from its case and it was working fine again.

I hope Apple does look into this. I have the same problem. Using this camera with the flash on helped for now. Someone on here said it is intermittent. This certainly sounds like a software problem to me if it can be fixed by turning th camera flash on.

Apple won't look into a problem with your phone unless you tell them you have one. Either make an appointment at the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or use the Contact Support link at the top right of every page of these forums.

I have the same problem. Until you have the time to get this properly fixed, try this. Open camera and select forced flash. Take a picture. It may or may not flash at the proper time. When it does properly flash at the same time as the shutter release, close camera and activate flashlight again. Mine stays on like it's supposed to for a day or two, then intermittently does it again.

Why are you sure it's a software issue? Try restoring your phone as new. Does the LED work properly? If it doesn't, there is a good possibility it's a hardware issue. Make an appointment at the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store.
