Dec 22, 2015 10:14 AM in response to Meg The Dogby Jfgindigital3d,Hi Meg, once my sequence is complete, I click on file, then I go to the Export option and click on "QuickTime Movie". I then choose the file locations and save it. Once the export is complete the file comes out looking normal, but when I click on it to play QuickTime opens and claims to be converting the file. This takes a good long while and one it's finally converted, it then tell me it is unable to play. I've tried playing it in other media players but none can do it, playing pixelated and deformed versions of the file.
I've tried the same method with choosing in and out markers on my sequence and with out.
I've tried exporting "Using Quicktime Conversion", and whilst the files are playable, the video always comes out elongated.
The only cutaround I've found is that once it's exported from FCP, I can then import it into IMovie and then export it normally from there. This actually works fine but this is far from ideal.. Any ideas?

Dec 22, 2015 10:23 AM in response to Jfgindigital3dby Meg The Dog,What are your sequence settings? Click anywhere in the timeline and type Command + 0 {zero} to see them. Either report those settings or take a screen shot and post the screen shot here.
When you go to File > Export > QuickTime Movie . . ., when the navigation pane opens, do you have Make movie self-contained checked?

Jan 3, 2016 12:28 PM in response to Jfgindigital3dby Shane Ross,Ah...the issue is that your sequence setting is H.264. And that suggests your footage is also H.264. And FCP 7 doesn't work well with H.264. It SEEMS like it might, but when you try to export, that's when most issues arise. With H.264 media, you really need to convert to ProREs before editing.
One thing you can try is to change the COMPRESSOR in those settings to PRORES, render, and then export. But then you have the issue of the frame size...1440x1080. ProRes is a full raster, full size (1920x1080) codec...and your settings are for thin raster, or anamorphic (1440x1080). So I don't know what issue might arise if you try that. BUT, if you do...duplicate the sequence first.
This might require a lot more fixing...meaning changing the sequence to 1920x1080 ProRes, and then changing the DISTORT on all the clips to make them fit...
