El Capitan Server shares inaccessible to Windows 7 clients

Hello,

This week, I set up a new Mac mini server using El Capitan's updated Server package. I completed the Server, DNS, Open Directory, File Sharing, user, and groups setup. Mac workstations can connect properly, but my client's Windows 7 Home and Windows 7 Professional workstations are completely unable to connect.

Are there new security settings on the server side blocking their access—or conversely, what needs to change on the Windows 7 end of things to re-enable connectivity?

I'm stuck with a partially functioning network after finally convincing my client to replace an old iMac with a dedicated server and have had zero luck finding documentation or guidance from Apple as to how to integrate Windows Workgroup computers into a predominantly Mac OS X network.

Much appreciation in advance to anyone who can shed any light on this or point me in the right direction.
