Q: -I am unable to install bootcamp 6 in windows 10. It always get stuck in installing ever.

Hi,

I have the new OS X version on my MAC end and I have installed Windows 10 using Windows update on the Windows partition. After updating it to Windows 10, I see that the volume control or brightness control doesn't work like it use in the previous version of Windows. So I thought I need to update the bootcamp. When I tried to update the bootcamp, I encounter following the problem,

> It downloads the new update as expected but when it gets to the installing phase, it installs to certain extend, then I get an error stating Windows updater stopped working and then the apple software update stalls at that point. It neither gives an error message nor it continuous installing.

I need your expertise to fix this issue.

Thanks in advance,

Rev

    What year/mode is your Mac?

Please download BC6 drivers from Apple using OS X BC Assistant and run setup.exe from the Bootcamp folder and test.

    Hello Loner T,

Thanks for your immediate response. Mine is a MacBook Pro 2012 one. I also tried to get the BC 6 in the manner you asked me to try but I get an error stating, " An error occurred while saving the windows support software". I don't know what led to this error. I tried by saving it to Bootcamp folder and also to a memory stick. I still get the same error. I would like to know if you can help me with this.

    Thanks,

    Rev

    1. Please use a wired connection, if possible.

    2. The apple.com URLs listed in Requirements for Software Update Service - Apple Support should be reachable from your Mac.

    3. There is a set of scripts that can connect to the Apple servers - Brigadier (https://github.com/timsutton/brigadier) - that can be used to specify the Mac model identifier (found in About This Mac -> System Report -> Model Identifier) to download a WindowsSupport.dmg file. If you need help with the command line, please post back.
