Q: Transferring data from old to new Mac
Hi Folks, I am acquiring a new iMac PC (21.5-inch iMac with Retina 4K display) to replace my existing iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2010). I have sold my existing iMac and will have to ship it off before receiving the new unit, ergo, I will not be able to use the method of transferring my data from the old to the new Mac.
Consequently, I am seeking assistance by way of advising me how I should proceed in preserving the data on my existing Mac in order that I can install same on the new Mac. In addition, how can I remove all my data from the old Mac but preserve the OS X (El Capitan) and relevant apps.
All advice/recommendations will be greatly appreciated

Also, before reformatting and shipping off the old computer,
make sure you de-authorize any 3rd party software if needed.
Some monitor number of installations vs. the number you are
allowed.
