Q: Delete entries in individual Family iTunes without removing from all libraries ?

Daughter had iTunes library in her mac desktop account using dad's iTunes ID . We've just created her own account and added to the family account. How does she prune unwanted songs  from her library added previously without deleting them from the family account ? Do we delete ~/music/iTunes/iTunes Library.itl , restart iTunes and import files to a new library ?

    Hello ASquit,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

If I understand your post correctly, you have created an Apple ID for your daughter, and you'd like to delete songs from her iTunes library, but not remove them from your Family Sharing account.  The good news is that when you delete any song from an iTunes Library, it does not impact anything with Family Sharing.  All you have to do is simply delete songs from iTunes by following the directions below.

Delete an item from your library

    1. Click the item to select it, and press the Delete key.

    2. Click Delete [item].

    3. Do one of the following:

      •

Remove the item only from your iTunes library: Click Keep File.

      •
      •

Delete the item from your computer: Click Move to Trash. The item is removed the next time you empty the Trash.

    Take care.
