Q: restoring a new iphone 6, but claims itunes not latest version

Just purchased iPhone 6s.  Trying to use a saved restore from old iPhone that is on my macbook.  Getting a message that itunes needs to be a newer version, but I have the newest version already.

The latest version of iTunes is v12.3.2. It could be that your Mac does not have the correct OS X to support the latest version of iTunes. These are the latest Macintosh requirements for the latest version of iTunes.

    Mac System Requirements

    • Mac computer with an Intel processor
    • To play 720p HD video, an iTunes LP, or iTunes Extras, a 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or faster processor is required
    • To play 1080p HD video, a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or faster processor and 2GB of RAM is required
    • Screen resolution of 1024x768 or greater; 1280x800 or greater is required to play an iTunes LP or iTunes Extras
    • Broadband Internet connection to use Apple Music, the iTunes Store, and iTunes Extras
    • Apple combo drive or SuperDrive to create audio, MP3, or back-up CDs; some non-Apple CD-RW recorders may also work. Songs from the Apple Music catalog cannot be burned to a CD.

    • OS X version 10.8.5 or later, Apple Music requires OS X version 10.9.5 or later
    • 400MB of available disk space
    • Apple Music, Apple Music Radio, iTunes in the Cloud, and iTunes Match availability may vary by country
    • iTunes Extras require OS X version 10.10.3 or later

    I have iTunes is v12.3.2.

OS X is 10.7.5.  When I try to update the OS X it tell me it is the latest.  Any idea how I work around this?

As ChrisJ4203 told you above, these two statements contradict each other.  iTunes 12.3.2 cannot run on OS X 10.7.5.

You need a later version of OS X.  If you cannot update your computer's OS X any further, then you need a new computer.

UPDATE:  Maybe there is a technical issue here regarding the word update.  You probably have the latest version of OS X 10.7, but you need OS X 10.11 which is an upgrade.

Strange because I confirmed I have iTunes is v12.3.2. and it works fine with my old iPhone5s and to play music (etc) on the iMac.

I was trying to avoid upgrading to El Capitan due to the long download and install times some have reported.  I guess I will have to.

    Thanks.

Your post says you are running iTunes 12.3.2. You're not.  Your screenshot shows iTunes 12.2.2.

Thanks sberman!  I think I might need reading glasses.

I guess I will need to upgrade to another OS X to be able to use iTunes 12.3.2.  Either way my problem seems to be OS X related.

    Thanks again.

I know the feeling. I actually just had a vision check and ordered new eyeglasses today myself.

    Enjoy your Apple gear.
