Hi MaximM,
Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! I'm a bit unclear on your exact network configuration or any requirements your server admins may have set up, but the basic process should be similar to connecting to a server the traditional IPv4 way. You may find the information and steps outlined in the following articles helpful:
OS X Yosemite: Connect to shared computers and file servers on a network
OS X Yosemite: Connect to a Windows computer from a Mac
Cheers
Hi,
Thanks for replay.
I mean:
Connect to a Windows computer by entering its address
I don't know how in case 2.2 enter IPv6 address?
Could you explain please.
BR,
Maxim
Hi MaximM,
Sure, no problem. To the best of my knowledge, if you have the IPv6 address of the server (in the format xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx), you would enter it in that string where it says "IPaddress".
Cheers
Hi,
I tried:
smb://fe80::5246:5dff:fe90:3497
smb://fe80::5246:5dff:fe90:3497%en0
smb://[fe80::5246:5dff:fe90:3497]
smb://[fe80::5246:5dff:fe90:3497%en0]
But no one works .... 😟
Are those the full IPv6 addresses you have gotten from your server admin (they appear to be short)? Is there a specific reason you are connecting via IPv6 instead of via IPv4?
Indeed I can use IPv4 but I'd like to use IPv6.
ping6 fe80::5246:5dff:fe90:3497%en0 is working but not smb ...
I also tried putting the IPv6 address to /etc/hosts file.
ping6 works but samba doesn't ...
So How can I use IPv6 for SMB?
