Can't make phone calls or FaceTime from iPhone 5

i have my mothers old iPhone 5 and am now unable to make calls from either FaceTime or the phone itself. It's on shared data plan and I can usually do this when I'm at home with wifi but all of a sudden it doesn't allow me to do this no more. Can anyone help me please

Hi stephaniefromcolyton,

The resource below explains what your mother would need to do to clear her Apple ID and account information in order for you to use the iPhone. Since FaceTime is tied to the telephone number and the user's Apple ID you would need to sign in using your Apple ID for this service. You may need to contact your carrier if you are unable to make telephone calls or use cellular data for Facetime.
