Q: can't sync iphone 6 plus anymore after El Capitan update, stuck on color wheel

Hi,

I just updated my iMac 27" to El Capitan and also updated my iPhone to IOS 9.2.

When I connect my phone to the computer via USB the little iPhone icon appears up the top in iTunes, but it is greyed out and the color wheel just starts turning and doesn't stop. So I can't even click on the icon. I can't even start to sync. I can't actually do anything in iTunes anymore and have to force quit it.

I've restarted both computer and phone several times, and have also reset the phone.

Any suggestions how to fix this. I would really like to be able to sync my phone!

Hey Mira,

Sorry to hear that you aren't able to sync your iPhone with your Mac because iTunes because it's stuck. Let's see if we can get that sorted out.

The first thing I would look at is seeing if the the Automatic syncing is causing the issue. Open up iTunes preferences and make sure that "Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically" is enabled. If that does not work, look over the article below for some additional troubleshooting to get you back to syncing your iPhone with iTunes.
