How to find voltage memory for new ram

Hi gang,

I’m looking at buying new ram for my early 2011 MacBook Pro 13-inch laptop that’s currently running 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5. I have 4gb, but I’m looking to upgrade to 16gb DDR3 of ram. I’ve noticed while researching that people talk about checking to see if it’s for 1.35v or 1.5v. How do I know which one I need?

The ram that’s currently in my laptop is 4gb 1333 MHz and this is the upgrade I’m looking at, which has 1.5v:

Thanks!

Either will work. There will be a very, very small energy savings with the lower voltage. If you get your RAM from Crucial or OWC, your MBPs interests will be well served. Those companies are the most reliable sources for Mac RAM.

Ciao.
