Not sure if this is what you describe as "mirror image." There is a setting (on recent iPod nano) to "invert colors," if that is what you are describing. This can make the screen more readable for those with sight disability.
On the current 7th gen nano, go to Settings -> General. Then Accessibility. Tap ON/OFF switch for Invert Colors.
Thanks for your reply. I shall investigate this but it's not a sight disability thankfully. The writing is actually backward and upsides down !No kidding . Never seen or beard of it before! If I hold the iPod upside down in front of a mirror it can be read!! Extremely strange!!
So, never mind what I wrote previously. That REALLY is "mirror image"!
I would try using the Reset Settings command. It is the bottom item on the iPod's onboard Settings screen. This sets the iPod's onboard settings to default settings. So, if this is some weird corrupted settings issue, it should be back to normal.
Thank you so much for taking the time to help. I really appreciate it. I tried exactly as you suggested but alas it still reads as upside down and back to front. I have never heard of such a strange happening.!
That is very weird. However, I did an Internet search on "ipod nano mirror image," and there are a small number of hits (including posts in this forum) that describe what you describe. Unfortunately, I did not see any solutions. I was going to suggest doing a Restore on the iPod using iTunes next. This erases the iPod, reinstalls its software, and sets it to default settings. You can try that, but some of those other reports mention doing a Restore, and the problem not going away.
Which iPod nano "generation" is yours, BTW? This web page shows all the iPod models

Once again thank you so much for your time.Looks like a second generation 8gb in pink. I bought it from EBay approx 2 years ago quite cheaply as the lower half of the screen was a little lighter and lined. This did. not con web me as the unit works perfectly rely well apart from that. I have tried resetting it on iTunes but....The unit continues to function perfectly well. Perhaps I shall try to practice my upside down and backwards reading. :-)
