Dec 24, 2015 4:34 AM in response to Allan Eckertby Toastedbagel42,sorry allan, it was 3am in the morning for me and i just missed your message when i posted. when i power up my laptop with the option key depressed the lock screen comes up. however, i've tried my mac password and it's not unlocking? i'm unsure on where to fine the code for this.

Only Apple Retail Stores or Apple Authorized Service Providers can unlock computers protected by a firmware password.
