Based on your info, it may be too difficult to find the exact cause of the problem, using this discussion forum. You did not answer my question about whether the iPod appears in iTunes when connected, but if it does, and you can go to its settings screen, you may want to do a Restore on the iPod in iTunes. The cause may be data corruption on the iPod's storage, which is why iTunes is not able to sync it. And why the iPod is not able to access (most) song files in its storage (except for those 5 songs). The Restore will erase the iPod, reinstall its software, and set it to default settings. You can then use your last available backup.

Alternately, a technician with direct access to your iPod may be able to find the exact cause, and fix it. If there is an Apple Store nearby, you can make an appointment with the store's Genius Bar (tech support staff).

How do you load songs on iPod, or more specifically, for the songs that do not play, how were they loaded on the iPod touch? Sync from computer? Download from iCloud Music Library (if you subscribe to iTunes Match or Apple Music)? Purchase (and download) directly from iTunes Store on iPod touch?

If you use various methods to load songs on iPod, do the "5 songs that work perfectly fine" have anything in common?

Before trying anything else, if you have not already, power off the iPod touch (press-hold the power button and "slide"). After starting it up, see if the problem still occurs.

The key here may be to figure out why those "5 songs" have no problem playing, while all of the other do not play. If your songs are purchased from the iTunes Store, are the "5 songs" your most recent purchases? Or were they purchased from iTunes Store on the iPod touch, versus being synced to the iPod from your computer for all other songs?

Did you recently start using a different Apple ID? Is the Apple ID used on iPod touch different from the Apple ID used in iTunes on the computer?

Do you (or did you) subscribe to Apple Music (or iTunes Match)?

What iOS version does your iPod touch run?

And...

What iOS version does your iPod touch run?

Are the "5 songs" (that play fine) purchases from the iTunes Store? Are they your most recent purchases?

When ever i try to sync my ipod with my laptop it always fails and it does not let me back it up either

I assume that worked fine before...? Did this problem also start at the same time as your songs not playing? Can you provide more details... Does the iPod appear in iTunes and fails when you try to sync? Or does it fail to appear in iTunes when connected? Do you get any error message that indicates failure (if you do, what does it say)?
