Q: Final Cut Pro 7 Out of Memory Error for Small File

Hi! I imported a 900KB project to Final Cut Pro 7 and when I tried to put a sequence together in the timeline I received an “Out of Memory Error.” I’m using h.264, but it’s a small file. This video is a long promised birthday present for someone, so I’m really sweating this and would appreciate any help/advice.

MacBook Pro (15-inch Mid 2012), OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

Prior to ingesting the H.264 file, convert it to ProRes.
You can do this with Compressor or with MPEG Streamclip (free)

FCP 7 does not support working with H.264 files directly.
