why doesn't guided access allow sleep/auto lock to work?

I have an iPad 2 3G and an iPad Air LTE and an iPhone 6S, they are running iOS 6.1.4, 9.2, and 9.2 respectively. None of them will go to sleep or auto lock when in Guided Access mode. This means a dead battery if the device is left unattended while in Guided Access mode. I would think that the standard sleep/auto lock settings would work does anyone know why they don't or if there is a fix?

iPad 2 Wi-Fi + 3G, iOS 6.1.4, doesn't work on any newer devices

Hello,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

If your iOS devices are not going to sleep when Guided Access is enabled, then it indicates that you have the option to allow sleep during a session disabled. Please go to your Guided Access settings as shown below:

Set up Guided Access

Tap Settings > General > Accessibility > Guided Access to set up Guided Access. From there, here's what you can do:

  • Turn Guided Access on or off
  • Set a passcode that controls the use of Guided Access and prevents someone from leaving an active session
  • Set whether the device can go to sleep during a session

Use Guided Access with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Cheers.
